Frequently Asked Questions
Where are the festivals located and how do I get there?
The festivals are both located in Parking Lot 56 and Burchard Park on the corner of Grand River Ave. and Turner St. in Lansing’s Old Town.
Where should I park?
You can park anywhere on the streets in Old Town. You can also park in the neighborhoods just west of Old Town or park downtown and take the River Trail about a ½ mile north. There are signs along the River Trail starting 3 miles out, guiding the way. Handicap parking is available along Grand River Ave. at the festival site. We also offer free Bike & Stroller Valet Parking on site, courtesy of MidMEAC.
Are the festivals held rain or shine?
YES! The festivals are mostly contained under large tents, so the party continues rain or shine. In the event of a severe thunderstorm, we may postpone portions of the events for safety reasons.
What is included with the price of an admission ticket?
With your entrance fee to both Festival of the Moon and Festival of the Sun you receive a souvenir glass and a couple drink/food tickets.
Can I bring my kids?
Unfortunately, children cannot attend Festival of the Moon; however, we welcome children at Festival of the Sun the following day from 2pm-6pm. Parents can take their children to the Kid's Corner where Elderly Instruments will host a "Instrument Petting Zoo" from 2-4pm and The Tub Submarines will perform children's music from 4-6pm. During these hours we can't allow strollers in the festival grounds due to fire safety. There will be stroller parking that is safe and supervised. A limited number of baby carriers will be available for checkout. After 7pm Festival of the Sun is strictly 21 and over for liquor license control reasons.
Are these events fundraisers?
YES! Old Town festivals deliver nearly 70 percent of the operating budget for the OTCA, and we greatly appreciate your support.
Where do I bike?
Guests can utilize the River Trail that will have mile markers all along it directing them to Old Town and the festivals. Once you’ve arrived, there will be free bike valet courtesy of MidMEAC.
